Sinusitis is the swelling of the tissue lining the sinus caused by infection or allergens. The sinuses
are four paired cavities in the head with thin mucus that drains out of the
passages of the nose helping to keep the nose clean and free of bacteria. A
sinus infection can cause a headache, pressure in the eyes, nose, cheek area,
or on one side of the head. The sinus infection may also present a cough, fever,
bad breath, and nasal congestion with thick nasal secretions.
Some people have
physical body defects that make them more susceptible to sinus infection. The
most common of these defects are:
Abnormality of
the bony partition between the two nasal passages
Nasal polyps – There
is a growth in nasal passage that contain mucus
Narrow sinus
openings
People with these defects regularly suffer from chronic sinus infections.
The Ayurvedic
approach to treating sinusitis includes detoxifying procedures like
Panchakarma, oral medications, and dietary changes.
